The Seven Portals of the Spirit
2. Time
The psychological perception and memory of time

In a philosophical sense the present moment equals the past in its future form. Let us imagine the shoes on our feet metaphorically with which we move through space and time. And although our attention is constantly bound to the present moment, the section of the current event that is passing below our feet momentarily the past and the future are just as real. They are not strung together chronologically but like strings in a spider web-like cosmic network of time. Thereby it is less crucial on where we are wandering on foot, but it is much more important how we combine our current steps with all our imprinted memories in our mind. The section of the actual moment is nothing more than the crossing point under our feet that is constantly moving through our conscious inventory with us, and by doing so offers thousands of possibilities for the future to come (Mythology has created the image of the weaving norns holding and wielding the threads of fate). What we have here is a matter of so called “Fields of association” that allow us to compare every future event with similar past experiences and place the result on a location within our network on which it is connected with its past similarity.1

The laws of cause and effect

The one, who wants to be concerned with karma, may not be bound to the laws of cause and effect. One has to accept that the causes of the effects are yet again effects from former causes that are all leading back to the big bang of creation if we go back into the past far enough. If we meditate more deeply about the phenomenon of time we come to realize that every experience is not simply the “effect” but also the “cause” of a typical behaviour within us that is resonating into the future as well as into the past.2 The past and the future happen simultaneously: Alpha and Omega are one. The problem is our image of time: Our perception of space in which we can only move back and forth, from one point to another in order to prevent our dual world that is imprinted into our minds from “falling apart”. That is the material of consciousness that our collective images are made of: The games our imaginations play, that are always referring to things that happened previously. This reflects on every station of the pilgrim’s path. As long as we simply orientate ourselves using the turning movement of time and do not understand that we are being influenced by our death just as much as we are from our birth the flow of time as touchstone of our development will remain a mystery to us that makes no recognizable sense at all. Here lies the creative dilemma. Changes can only be made through analysing the mistakes that we made yesterday and are realizing today. Thereby we could also undo the mistakes from yesterday which we stumble over today, but we can’t avoid the mistakes from tomorrow, because we can’t see them today. In this sense everything remains the same: We are always correcting backwards, setting out from today, that is the very point on which something negative is catching our eye, while the process from tomorrow is happening now within the decision we are making today but which are expanding to their whole extend into yesterday. By the time we realize the mistakes within the things we are creating today it is already tomorrow, and that what we would already discuss as an detected mistake would be initiated yesterday whereby the future realizations the day after tomorrow would reveal today’s mistakes while we are still working on the old ones. Changes are not initiated at the point in time where they come to light but they have an influence exactly then when they flow in the shape of an innovation or impulse into our system. If we know this we can be quite sure about the fact that the realisations from today are nothing else than yesterdays experiences.

The nexuses in our mind keep the world in motion

Every action influences all actions, for in the collective fundus of saved inventories is connected with everything. This path contains all experiences and realizations that we have made some place in some point in time of our lives and equips us with an overview that includes all forms of association in our minds we can always use for orientation. The combinations within our consciousness which create and preserve our world can be traced back to the efforts of the individual to create a frame that it can refer to. It is also a self-made structure, which guaranties safety. At the same time this trick is good for giving us the relaxed inner feeling of constant growth and of always reaching a bit further ahead. Let us exaggerate a little with our description: Our sense of time is a twisted abstract object that is being constantly influenced by our ever changing point of view, because our sight is always in a process of transformation because of a daily changing point of view. Every realization changes every other realization, and that is why every insight that we achieve influences our past experiences and through this we return to our starting basis: Only the one who can recognize himself in the entirety of his existence is able to expand his inner attitude. Yet he is not only the child that grows old he is also the old one recognizing himself within the young one. That is how we recover the old within the new. The only truth within our past is the one that declares that the past can just as well be the presence as it could be the future. In this sense the future is the most creative illusion of mankind.

Conversations with the old Magician
Is Time seen from a spiritual Point of View an Illusion?
a) General questions and an exemplary case concerning the matter of time

Who was first: the hen or the egg?

Neither one nor the other. I think the mortality of all life was the beginning even before the idea of the chickens biological construction existed. For this reason there is no beginning and no end and just as the egg bears the experience of the chicken, every birth bears the experience of death into.

The end as a beginning?

Because an end always developed out of a beginning and the beginning carries the precondition for the end, for this reason the end is the destination which lies hidden within the intention of the beginning. Seen from the perspective of the perishable, own position all of this is only visible as something that rushes by. Seen from the mortal point of view of our consciousness it is all predestined to “Become” and to become it has to “Perish” as well. Seen from the beginning the aim is the future or the “development of the first step”, and seen from the end it is the “past of the future intention’s first impulse”. Nothing more.

Therefore time represents in your opinion the universal law that combines the future with the past?

All kinds of development exist simultaneously. In the mirror of human progress the end and the beginning, birth and death look back at us who destroy at one end what was created at another, for every cycle ends there where it has bygone and we can feel the seed of a new beginning within every end. But as long as we go by the rules of the circling movements of time and do not realize that our death influences us in the same way our birth does, time will remain a mystery that doesn’t make any sense to us …

... our death influences us? Then the beginning and the end would be the toeholds of a completely new interpretation of time?

Well, we live with a certain interpretation of time we have constructed ourselves. This interpretation has the advantage that we are able to control it. On the other hand the urge to control prevents us from feeling or understanding real time. To perceive reality within our socialized perception of time, we have to ignore every dimension of time that lies beyond our psychologically stamped image, in order to prevent our time-construction from collapsing like a card house. That is why it is impossible for the all-embracing spirit to find coherences beyond its perception of space and time, except when it manages to move onto another level. Then these so called “miracles” are possible. Let me tell you what I mean by using an example.

Oh yes, please!

I bade Patricia and Cyrus, people who are magical companions of mine, to taste a black forest cake in order to review my symbolic cake model or model of “world analysis”, because for one we didn’t know about the exact construction of such a cake, and for the other reason to simply test the quality of its taste in order to perceive the spirit of this idea. We wanted to find out if the symbol was fitting the purpose.

Why? Why does the cake as a coincidental example have an influence on the predication of a model?

Well if we bind an abstract model to a collective term such as a black forest cake, this also means that we initiate certain fields of association. Therefore it is not insignificant at all which ideological connection is chosen to hit the actuator in peoples heads, for the spirit of this cake becomes bound to peoples thoughts and in one or the other way also with collective impressions of this interpreted representative.

You think that the spirit of a cake can enter peoples minds…?!

… and helps a better understanding of reality – yes!

Who are Patricia and Cyrus …?

Patricia is a talented, young visionary and an ingenious artist, who illustrated all of my latest books including this one, and Cyrus is special in a particular way, a droll fellow – a psychonautic and philosophic extremist ...

... and what is a psychonautic?

A psychonautic is one who dives into his own psyche and ventures into his subconsciousness using magical and shamanic mediums. Cyrus comes from Paderborn, he studied in Konstanz though and from many of his narrations I knew that Konstanz was a location of magical force for him. He told me for instance that he, during the time of his studies, saw a market place, and there, in front of the imperial fountain facing the harbour there where suddenly numerous wooden huts that were all selling something different, and after having a look around he decided to have a bite to eat at Mac Donald’s which lay near the train station. When he returned some fifteen minutes later, all huts had vanished without a trace. Only a few months later he went for a walk in the same area, he had seen the mysterious wooden stalls, and there stood – for the first time – the Constanzian Christmas fair.

A deferment of the time-spheres ...?

Either that or a kind of remembered future – in any case it was quite spectacular. For this reason I suggested that they should taste the cake in a cafe at exactly the same place he had this experience, for I assumed that, according to his stories, this place is some kind of magical time portal, or a gateway into alternative parallel dimensions to him, which allows him to venture between the time-spheres unnoticed by his consciousness. At least this location certainly has a special frequency which supports the act of communicating with his subconsciousness.

Memorandum of Cyrus – April the 3rd, 2010, the marketplace of Konstanz

We were four and on our way to Konstanz in order to devour the different spheres of consciousness symbolically by using the black forest – cake as medium, dimension, by dimension to the very flan base which stand for the amorphic cosmos, the unfathomable, primal source of inspiration and eternal longing. When we reached the fountain of the market place we visited the cafe across, only to find out after we had finished our meal, that there was no black forest cake left for desert. So, what to do? We decided to try some other place. But the next cafe didn’t look comfortable at all so after a short discussion we decided that we would not sit down there but buy the cake to take it somewhere else and have it at a comfortable bench facing the shore at the harbour. And there a Déjà-vu experience or the revived memory of a dream, in which I witnessed exactly the same situation, struck me like a hammer. I remembered the two female companions, who I had met for the first time in my life the very day before, and everything that was said, while it was pronounced, I could have synchronized each single word! At the end of the conversation – I presume it was about where to eat the cake – I communicated what I just had experienced and then added the final sentence I was remembering in the very moment: “And this is the point where I have said in my memory: ... !” – And I spoke the words I have pronounced in my dream and – Lo and behold! The words fitted the current situation perfectly!

How can that happen?

No one can know for sure. Maybe it was a kind of “future-memory”, a kind of experience, that has not actually happened to you yet, but which you have “fore-dreamed”, and you suddenly remember the very moment it comes to pass – or it is a repressed event, which is still influencing reality from a subconscious level, until it fights its way back into presence. Many events we witness are not processed correctly or to their full extent, and then put aside in the misty world between our dreams and phantasies and are dug out in people’s memories although they have never actually happened the way they return into consciousness. Yet again, it also could be a form of inexperienced past, that carved itself into a deeper dimension of our subconsciousness, although it has not come to pass yet and expands into reality, and which returns into our memory in a sudden moment. Deep within our souls, beyond the world of our dreams, unknown powers operate in the rhythm of the pulse of the universe and open the gates to completely new shapes and forms of perception that transparently shine into our world from time to time. Trough accidental deferment of our reality which can result from expanded conditions of consciousness as a consequence of tiredness, fever, drugs, shocks or concentrated meditation, “Leeks of natural attention” are forming and they conciliate what is possible beyond the threshold of our material world.

But how can I travel between different spheres of time?

That is hard to explain. The problem is that we are not able to transfer anything from the deeper dimensions of perception onto our consciousness, because we have no inventory when it comes to capturing these mysterious impressions. We can only knowingly remember things within the borders of our consciousness, between which all our inner interaction takes place.

What happens to the realizations from those other levels of consciousness then?

Every sphere of consciousness possesses its own energy field, which we use to create visions that make our minds more flexible with the help of our sensibility. Through the inner displacement of the frequencies of our perception the appearances on the different spheres change as well, for being merely reflections of collective images they match precisely the implementation of our alignment. That is to say, the form and size of the vessel we use to take our share from the collective images with ...

… we take our share of the collective images? I don’t understand.

Basically it is nothing else than in our everyday life: It is the shape and size of the vessel, which decides how much water we can collect from the well on the normal level of our consciousness. As soon as we return to our commonly known reality we have forgotten our experiences from the depths of our subconsciousness.

That would mean that we can’t remember other conditions of consciousness as soon as we return into our normal “reality”?

Exactly! Only in special moments, in which we “accidentally” manage to trick our intellectual censor or the dream-warden it is possible for us to experience certain fractions of events or coherences on other dimensions, which we then carry into this structured world of ours in the disguise of indefinable sensations – just as we have seen it in our example.

Does that mean that time the way we have known it so far has never existed?

No. To reach the deeper layers of our soul we have to give up thinking about time as a linear concept. It is only an artificial construction that does not harmonize with the frequency of the universe but with the forces of our imagination, which awakens the urge in us to control certain fractions of eternity. As soon as we would allow ourselves to fall out of our narrow minded structure of time into “timelessness” we would tumble out of our “congruence with the world” ...

... congruence with the world?

This is the condition on a certain level of consciousness, on which we accept the “deliverance of our world”, that is to say the mechanisms of behavior according to which we have learned to form our image of the world.

Well, where would we get to if we did let go of our patterns?

If we reached a meditative condition of timelessness we would reside beyond the borders we set within our collective way of sensing our environment. In brief: Our time-construction merely serves the purpose of differing between the crucial junctions of our interactions and run of events that seem important to us.

Why is that so important?

Because it is the only way we can keep up the illusion of control!

What would happen if we didn’t?

Then our whole world would melt away, because there would be no event left, onto which we could chronologically hold on. This is the quintessence of the realization that it would be absurd to want to understand time beyond time, especially for us human beings, who even need time to understand nothing.

Not understanding the incomprehensible ...?

The comprehensible is the incomprehensible. We do not only need time to understand something we need just as much time to not understand anything at all, because understanding is the only entity of our material sphere, and it creates its own universe. In the very depths of every being it makes sense though for because the ability to feel the mystery of time is there ... even if not within our dimension of time.

How can one escape this “circulus vitiosus”?

By willingly transforming the frequency of our inner perception – like we know it from far-east techniques of meditation – or experiments with shamanic magic mushrooms. Even the act of sinking into the world of dreams – in the process of falling asleep – is a morphism of our inner attention onto a deeper sphere. If we for example make our spiritual focus depend on the subconscious memory of eternity, we simultaneously focus on a higher frequency within ourselves and our spiritual qualities – Esoterically orientated persons call this kind of feeling the inner goddess or divine illumination – which makes us feel divine ourselves. A sensibility which cuts across our material laws and the structured ways society tends to explain the world with.

So we created ourselves a kind of sense-pattern for time, that has the function of explaining to us why things happen the way they do?

Yes! That is the idea we created from many aspects of our integration into a collective, functioning social system on a material level. Let us call it the “collectively integrated model of time”: In brief “model time” as opposed to holographic or multidimensional time which includes all of the many fractions of the essence of our very being and separated parts of our personalities, like a universal force-field that therefore comprises the sphere of everything we could ever be. Even beyond what we believe to be!

I see! How can we get to the controls of the cosmic time machinery?

The normal chronological time system only strengthens our urge to control our way of interacting with time, because every linear movement from the back to the front or from the past into the future is a process which can be controlled, observed and registered. Though other parts of ourselves which are hard for us to reach know about deeper dimensions of time, which are not monitored by our consciousness. These are events which are not integral in our normal way of experiencing, and therefore can frighten us when they decide to make themselves noticeable within our minds. Nonetheless it is very profitable for our inner development to dream into higher spheres of consciousness, in which magical events beyond our linear time-system can happen.

What would happen though if we would dream away onto a deeper level of our constructed model of time?

We find out that every shift is not only on the horizontal but also on the vertical sphere straight through the different layers of consciousness, more than just egocentric fractions of a personality who continually carry their self-perception from one point in the past, presence or future to another, they are namely multidimensional beings who reach far beyond into the depths of the unfathomable. For this reason one simply can’t talk about this with “normal” people.

So, please explain to us this “sense-pattern of time”!

We are only able to talk about what has been made visible to our minds by time, but we could never discuss what time really resembles from deep within, for time only seems to be time because we always connect it with an event of which we are only able to perceive the event and not the quality of time behind it that constitutes the energy of this event. We never see the tracks of time on which everything moves, because we only ever concentrate on the certain point in time: The moment of observation which excludes the phenomenon of how this observation actually comes to pass and how it influences our general senses. The specific point in time is nothing else then the vehicle in which we move on these tracks of time, and although past, future and presence are real in the same measure because the temporary railways run in all directions of the continent of our consciousness simultaneously, all our attention is focused on the presence. That is to say: We only see the outtake of the tracks of time which lie underneath our vehicle this very moment.

What you are trying to say is that people only interact in a linear way – on a one-way track, which moves from past to future ...

Yes. However, a dual route that only leads from the past over the presence into the future doesn’t even exist, the whole transcendent human perception is rather like a spider web, which is woven into our psyche in such a way that we are forced to compare every future event with a similar experience from our past and place this event on a position within this web, where it then connects with the similar aspect in our past.

According to your point of view this would also mean that we will never be able to understand time to its full extend?

We have to become conscious about the fact that everything we observe depends on the focus of our consciousness, which is located on one section of the rails. This outtake of the railway-system which we have placed in the center of our attention is the continuum of our perception of space and time, which wears the disguise of the journey between birth and death. Our way of observing our environment is nothing else then our idea about the concept of space, that we shift between these two points and because we want this movement to remain within the borders of our consciousness we have to direct our attention towards the place where we have learned to form our world – view. At the same time we are very anxious to move this perception of ours which we have chosen to be our reality with most care and economy upon this railway-system of time in order to precondition a certain stability within our re-construction of our world that seems agreeable to all of us. Otherwise it could happen that our collectively perceived image of reality falls apart.

If I interpret this correctly our sensed reality would be nothing else than an artificial time-construction?

The human intellect as chief architect of our construction of reality has got basically nothing better to do than to arrange and rearrange our educated mechanisms of perception and imagination. Although he mostly peaks behind patterns of our consciousness rushing by, his constructions gain a kind of firmness which enables him to differ between reality and our consciousness by transforming the unfathomable into something subsumable ...

... then we wouldn’t be all that wrong about time but or main deception would be our idea of reality?

Seen from a spiritual point of view – yes! If we focus on the railway-system of time, on which the focus of our mind moves instead of the specific point within our consciousness we realize that all the rails of the time-space continuum are actually connected to each other – and it doesn’t matter from which position on the tracks or in which direction our vehicle moves. Every process changes all procedures because the rail-section on which we focus our attention is also connected with every other outtake of the railway-system. That is why everything we experienced on a specific location in a certain point in time flows into the collective stream of events experienced by each and every being ever on the railway-system of time. Or, seen the other way around, one could also say that each and every one of our experiences on our fraction of the tracks have an influence on the past and the future of all other beings, that move within the borders of space and time: Just like a stone which was flung into the water causes waves which spread in all directions and even reach all oceans on the planet.

Could you give us an example in order to explain this phenomenon?

I can try – you see, on the spiritual level of our souls; the presence is absolutely capable of influencing the past and changing its denotation. If I – for example – killed a cat for the psychological reason to gain an experience, the superficial process of this action only catches my personal interest as long as I have not yet fully realized what I have just done. Though in the moment the true reason for my action reveals itself to me, the death of the cat as such looses its relevance for me. That is, because, now, it has become part of my accession of experiences which is integrated within higher coherences of a personal, overall perspective. That is why it might be; seen from the point in time of a possible future, within its own presence that has turned into the past for me now, not even existent any more. We can often witness this psychological procedure in trials, where facts are transformed which have long vanished into higher, subconscious realizations out of the subjective perception of the personal past. We tend to accuse this kind of people of being mendacious, if they can’t remember a thing all of the sudden. Seen from a spiritual point of view this is problematic, for these people are more like painters drawing on the creation and recreation of their personal reality of their self-image. This happens on a completely introverted section of their psyche though, within which the entire picture already exists as a subconscious creation. Meditating over their wholeness, observing the completed picture of their selves with their inner eye, they veneer, while they believe to keep the entire end-result in mind, the image of their past over and over again.

Therefore the network of time influences the illusion of our material reality?

It changes the illusion – because it changes us! As extraterrestrial and sub-terrestrial truth it can continue to work within our subconsciousness, at least as long as the “untreated” not yet experienced event integrated itself into our dreams and fantasies (which are often woven into people’s biographies, although they actually never happened). We are not the creators of reality, we are only the creators of the images of our reality the way we know it, because the collective way of perceiving this world is in exact accordance with material imprint, we created in the course of our development, and this imprint has got nothing to do with the “real” reality (reality beyond the subjective perspective). This imprint changes slowly, but continual, and if we look at it in the course of decades we would become conscious of the fact that everything had undergone a complete transformation. Fact is: If we hadn’t had a personal environment, which constantly mirrors our personality, we wouldn’t even notice that we grow old, because the psychological image of the spirit and the soul don’t know about an “incentive through aging”.

You are saying, there would be no aging-process? Did I understand you correctly?

I am talking about the psychological image of the spirit, not about physical matter, for this is only able to capture such a term as “time” within the borders of its own time-space continuum. Mankind describes time to be like a river, which flows from one point to another, if not in a material sense then within an imagined time-continuum, which operates in all material things through the process of aging. That is why we can’t feel the phenomenon of time beyond the borders of our consciousness and are therefore determined to bind ourselves to the “experienced” past, which we believe to know and are able to control, and presume what the “unknown” future would be like. Through this every future event is being measured through past experiences and the quality of sensing that what has not yet come to pass is being associated with the energy of elapsed events. Therefore the future experience is merely the result of the comparison of new impressions with observations of bygone events on other spheres of our personality. The consequences of those reach back to their very origins in our childhood – like the rings on the water that appear, when a stone is flung into the water. This makes our bodies grow old.
