The tale of Evil Witch

Once upon a time, in a remote town, there was a church parish. In it, the priest taught children to read and write. Among the children was a boy named Tihomir and a girl named Belava. Since childhood, the guys spent all their time together. For them, the main mentors were the priest and the ministers of the church. The kids often took advantage of the fact that the mentors were full of trouble and often fled to the city when the holidays were held. There was a belief in the town about an old witch. In the each evening when it was getting dark, she walked around the city in the company of a black cat, him was having nine lives. It was said that the sorceress was already weak and her witchcraft and spells only worked on small children. She kidnapped everyone she could, in order to enchant and force her to serve her. And her cat, she bewitched so that he could guard the kidnapped children.

Once, during the spring holidays, Tikhomir and Belava decided to look at the city festivities. Having sneaked out of church classes, the children went to the fair. After seeing all the sights and having gorged on treats, the children did not notice how evening came. And Belava offered to return to the parish school, since it was evening and that means the mentors had already started looking for them. The guys followed the familiar path, and the familiar church was already visible. Suddenly they noticed some movement. A woman's voice came from the darkness and asked for help. The guys ran up and asked what happened. They saw a stooped old woman. She was sitting on a street bench and held one hand on a crooked stick, and with the other hand she was beckoning the guys to her. The old woman immediately complained that she had lost her cat. She said that it was already dark, and her eyesight was weak and she could not find her own cat. As soon as the old woman told about the old cat. Belava remembered stories which ofter told on city holiday about the old witch. When the guys moved away to the side, Belava immediately told Tikhomir about everything. When they back the cat to the old woman, she was delighted and offered to visit her at a house on the outskirts of the city. The guys, in response to the offer, said that they needed to move on. Then the old woman said goodbye snd go. When Tihomir and Belava returned to the church, they immediately decided to tell the mentor about everything. Batiushka listened to them attentively, and said that it was bad that they ran away from classes without asking, but he was also familiar with the belief about the old witch. Then he decided to show the children the library. Here he said a lot of knowledge was collected, and they can help Tikhomir and Belava to become wiser. They cannot become adults, but wisdom will help no less in difficult times. Since then, Tikhomir and Belava began to spend more time reading and spending more time in class with the rest of the children!
