In the work «Who Travels Alone,» E. Phillips Oppenheim describes the extraordinary life of Alfred Loewenstein in his own graphic fashion. Alfred Loewenstein was a Belgian financier. At his peak in the 1920s, Loewenstein was worth around £12 million in the currency of the time, equivalent to £769.2 million in 2021, making him the third richest person in the world in his days. His generated his wealth from investments in electric power and artificial silk businesses when those industries were in their infancy. Yet, Loewenstein became most famous for his strange disappearance in 1928, which is also covered in the book.
