Introduction to Oxymel
Oxymel is a traditional medicinal preparation made from a mixture of honey and vinegar. The name «oxymel» comes from the Greek and literally translates as «sour honey». The preparation is made by mixing honey and vinegar in a ratio of 2:1, using the vinegar as an acidic ingredient. Oxymel has been used for centuries in various cultures as a remedy, especially to treat colds, coughs, digestive ailments and to strengthen the immune system. It is believed that the combination of honey and vinegar has synergistic properties and thus enhances the effectiveness of the two ingredients. Oxymel is a natural alternative to commercial drugs and is often valued for its antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties.
