Published in the 1700s, «A Discourse on Trade, and Other Matters Relative to it» by John Caryl was once considered to be the end-all-be-all manual for merchants and businessmen. Though the book focused specifically on the wool industry, it covers information regarding everything from the initial feeding and raising of sheep to shipping wool around the world. Though the trade industry has changed much since it was first written, Caryl's work still manages to hold true. In fact, businesses today could likely stand to learn something from this text even three centuries later.
