"Kirkcaldy of Grange" by Louis A. Barbé
Sir William Kirkcaldy of Grange was a Scottish politician and soldier who fought for the Scottish Reformation but ended his career holding Edinburgh castle on behalf of Mary, Queen of Scots. The materials available for a biography of Sir William Kirkcaldy of Grange are very unequally distributed over the two portions into which his life naturally divides itself. Thus, this book is one of the few examples of a comprehensive biography on this often-overlooked historical figure.
