The Countess of Escarbagnas

"The Countess of Escarbagnas" is one of Molière's best one-act plays. The play blends broad farce and pointed wit to express his never-ending delight in human foibles. The main character is a snobby provincial who sees herself as a «person of quality» because she has been to Paris, even though she only stayed in hotels and not at the houses of any aristocrats.
