CHAPTER 1: DEVOTED TO SCIENCE
In a small town, hidden in the depths of the forest, lived a lonely old man named Albert. Gray hair, deep wrinkles on his face, and a tired appearance, but the penetrating gaze in his eyes spoke of years of life and work. Albert was a scholar – an expert in his field of history and archaeology, but unfortunately, he did not receive any rewards or recognition for his research.
Since childhood, Albert had dreamed of dedicating his life to science. While other children played hide and seek in the streets, he spent hours eagerly immersing himself in reading books on history and archaeology. Years passed, and he delved deeper into his research, dreaming of making a significant contribution to the scientific community.
However, despite his dedication to science and numerous publications, Albert was overlooked by the academic community. He was never nominated for a doctoral degree or received prestigious awards that he strived so hard to earn.
Years later, elderly Albert still resided in the small town, where the residents were skeptical of his efforts and research. His works, based on numerous findings and discoveries, were merely small articles in local scientific journals. He never received funding for conducting full-fledged research, and his words were ignored in the scientific community.
Albert felt rejected and unhappy. All the years of work devoted to science now seemed insignificant and futile to him. He often spent days sitting by the window, gazing at the timeless town and asking himself, «What is the purpose of all this? What have I achieved with my research, if I am not respected and acknowledged?»
However, despite his disappointment and lack of attention, Albert could not stop his passion for science. Even in his darkest moments, he invariably returned to his desk, immersing himself in laboratory sources, analyzing data, and striving for new discoveries. His passion was stronger than the disappointment and rejection he felt.
Looking out the window and basking in the last rays of the sun, Albert managed to catch them. They penetrated his room, casting light on dusty shelves holding his numerous books and notebooks with notes. These rays reminded him of a bright memory – the years when he first picked up ink pens to record his first conclusions and discoveries.
Then, Albert decisively stood up from his chair and walked through the dusty room, reminding himself of his bright path as a researcher. He realized that true recognition and the value of his work cannot be determined by others. He did not need external validation – his true value lay within himself and his selfless devotion to science.
Thus began the story of the elderly scientist who, despite the lack of a doctoral degree and prestigious awards, continued to believe in himself and the importance of his research. Albert understood that the true value of his work does not depend on external recognition and praise, but on his internal passion, the pursuit of knowledge, and boundless interest in the world of science.
With this newfound realization, the elderly scientist decided to continue his research, on his own terms, regardless of society’s evaluation. He dedicated his life to science, striving for new discoveries and perfecting his knowledge.
