When I was working with Axel Ertelt from Halver on the manuscript for «Portals and Teleportation,» which was published as a book in 2023, we repeatedly came across stories where eyewitnesses reported that things, items, or objects disappeared without a trace overnight. Considering that many of these things were found again because the person misplaced them or forgot them somewhere. In English, this disappearance is called a «disappearing object phenomenon» (DOP). It's a seemingly widespread phenomenon in which an object seemingly disappears from view, only to later reappear in another, often obvious, location. However, it is further explained: "Although it is often attributed to forgetfulness or the wrong location, some reports point to a genuine «unexplained phenomenon»! This astonished us, because Axel and I have already experienced situations where «something» disappeared without a trace and inexplicably. But how does this «haunting» come about? Since it couldn't be a silly joke, ghosts, or anything like that, we continued our research online. We wondered if anyone had already seriously studied the «Disappearing Object Phenomenon» (DOP). Because we didn't find anything interesting in German-speaking countries, we began our search with just two English terms. Our search terms were «dinge, die spurlos verschwunden» = «things that disappeared without a trace» and «Gegstand unerklärlich verschwunden» = «object inexplicably disappeared.» With this book, I am probably the first German author to venture a little further. I would like to at least give you an idea of the controversial hypothesis about the JOTT phenomenon. It sounds a bit like magic, doesn't it? This book presents a bold hypothesis.
