The Tithe-Proctor is a fiction novel by Irish author William Carleton set in an Irish countryside during the time of the Tithe war of Ireland. It is written at a time when a sense of general resistance to tithes, imposed on the common people to fund the Church of Ireland, had been deepening in and spreading over the country. Tithe proctors such as Matthew Purcel, the main character of the novel often faced many challenges in collecting tithes.
